Don Whitehead, the co-founder of Juice Games, has formed a new studio dedicated to mobile and digitally distributed games.
Based in the UK, Nomad Games sees Whitehead joined by a number of other key figures from Juice Games, which was latterly known as THQ Digital Warrington, and closed in 2011.
The company plans to develop titles for mobile devices, but there's a broad range of other platforms the studio is currently considering. Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, PC, smart TVs and e-readers are all potential targets for Nomad Games.
The company's website also notes that the team is a licensed PS Vita developer.
Getting the band back together
Whitehead's official role in this new venture is commercial director. J
oining him are Matt Draper as development director, Carl Jackson as design director, Rob Anderson as technical director and Andrew Bate as artist.
All have formerly worked for Juice Games and/or THQ Digital Warrington.
"We formed the company last year after the closure of THQ Digital in Warrington," Whitehead told Develop.
"We'd started exploring digital only delivery and mobile platforms and we saw a tremendous opportunity for a small team in spaces that didn't really exist when we set Juice Games up, nine years before. Plus we had an on-going relationship with a licensor that we wanted to explore."
