Innovative Finnish investment fund Vision+ has announced it's spending 3 million ($4.8 million) funding 19 projects, including several mobile games.
The headline news is Vision+ has partnered with French developer Mando Productions for the development of 10 mobile games. They will be published by French publisher BulkyPix.
Mando has previously developed titles such as the Babel Rising franchise.
Ready to play
Other forthcoming game projects Vision+ has funded are UK outfit Eiconic's Total Recoil, and 4-on-4 American football title Mike Vick: GameTime.
And it's working with Finnish studio Tribeflame over an unnamed monkey-themed casual game.
Vision+ has also invested in various internet and mobile services, ranging from golf apps to environmental online communications for hotels.
It invests from 50,000 to 500,000 per project.
Just getting started
Vision+ works differently from other investors in that it takes a share of revenue from the projects it invests in, rather than equity in the companies concerned.
It's currently building out a portfolio of what it expects to be 200 digitally distributed products over the lifetime of its fund. Since it launched, it's received more than 500 applications from companies in 29 countries.
"Our investment portfolio shows our vision for the next two years and is geared toward important business trends in digital consumables," said the fund's managing partner Tero Ojanperä.
"Digitalisation impacts every business and is transforming traditional industries," he continued, "and tablets and mobile devices have become dominating platforms that further accelerate these changes."
