GREE's senior VP of marketing and developer relations in the US, Eros Resmini has left the Japanese social mobile giant.
One of the early executives of OpenFeint, which was bought by GREE in May 2010 for $104 million, Resmini has joined serial investor Peter Relan in a new secret project.
He now embraces the title 'entrepreneur in residence'.
Old history
Relan was the original funder of OpenFeint, which burst onto the iOS gaming scene in 2009 as an iOS game developer, before quickly morphing to provide a social gaming network for other developers.
Neither Resmini or Relan have revealed anything about the project, except to state that it "will reshape the startup growth landscape".
"I've already seen what Peter's approach can do and look forward to contributing to the next generation of companies seeking to change the way we live, work and play," Resmini commented.
Relan has been the news recently with his OpenKit open source service platform that enables developers to control and have access to their social graph data even if - as happened with OpenFeint in December 2012 - the hosting company decides to shut down the servers.
It seems unlikely that Resmini is involved in that project, however.
Relan merely states, "I now have a vision for how we will work with the next generation of entrepreneurs, and Eros's experience, smarts, and skills fit right in."
All systems go
Through his YouWeb incubator, Relan is involved in many start ups, including streaming games service Agawi, social publisher CrowdStar, and hardcore mobile publisher Phoenix Guild.
Keeping it in the family, Phoenix Guild was founded by OpenFeint CEO Jason Citron, who himself left GREE in unclear circumstances in September 2011.
With co-founder Danielle Cassley leaving prior to the GREE deal, this means that none of the original OpenFeint team is left in the GREE US office, which has since ballooned to over 300 staff thanks to the acquisition of developer Funzio and a steady hiring philosophy.
