Unity Technologies, the provider of the multi-platform Unity engine, announced that its community has now exceeded two million.
This milestone comes after the Unity community reached one million developers a little over a year ago.
Its growth since has no doubt been spurred by Unity's decision to increase its platform support and drop its basic licensce charge.
This manoeuver has made Unity an enticing option for developers looking to push games out to a variety of platforms including iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8, BlackBerry 10, Tizen, PS Vita, and more.
Active Unity
Out of the two million developers currently using Unity, it's reported that 400,000 - or 20 percent - are active on a monthly basis.
Speaking on the major milestone, Unity's CEO and co-founder David Helgason said he's proud to help "democratise" the game industry.
"In 2005 we started out with a few hundred users and the goal of making game development accessible to everyone across an increasing array of platforms and devices. We continue to dream big and innovate for our developers."
Here's our interview with David during GDC 2013.
