EA Mobile planning cross-platform games

That's mobile to console to PC

EA Mobile planning cross-platform games
You can learn a lot from job ads, as you'll know if you read our World of Warcraft Mobile story earlier this week.

So, we're at it again. EA Mobile has made no secret of its plans to introduce more connectivity into its mobile games, starting with the likes of Boom Blox and Spore.

However, it seems the publisher's ambitions go farther than that, to the point where its mobile games link in with its console and PC titles. Check this job ad on EA's site.

It's for the post of Senior Engineer, Mobile Games in EA Mobile's Los Angeles studio. In the position summary, it mentions that whoever gets the job will be "responsible for delivering server-side solutions that integrate mobile devices with WAP decks, franchise video games and community websites".

Oh, and to hammer that point home, they'll "work with PC and console teams to deliver cross-platform networked game services".

Clearly we're not talking about people playing FIFA on a phone against PS3 gamers, which would hardly be fair. What's much more likely - at least as a first step - is this is all about opening up console game stats for web and mobile web access, rather than directly integrating mobile and console games.

Still, the fact that EA is actively investigating cross-platform gaming is hugely encouraging. We look forward to seeing what whoever gets the job comes up with.
