German TV firm SEO Entertainment has teamed up with US-based Prizemo to launch a new gameshow called Show You the Money.
The interesting aspect (for us, anyway) is the show's cross-platform nature. It's an online TV show where celebrities pose questions, and viewers have to text in to answer them, winning prizes if they're sharp enough.
The show is being promoted on various MTV websites, but Prizemo and SEO say they're in discussions with several broadcasters to launch 15-minute versions of the show on broadcast TV, as well as online.
"There is a tremendous opportunity to leverage our learning from German call-in and participation TV shows and apply this to a growing market for interactive shows in the US," says SEO co-CEO Uwe Stanz.
Such 'playalong TV' formats are still relatively new, but SEO and Prizemo aren't the only companies investigating them.
Dutch firm Ex Machina talked about its playalong projects last week at the GCDC conference, while Connect 2 Media recently merged with Hands-On Mobile in Europe with the aim of investigating closer ties between mobile gaming and the TV world.
