So what's going on with GREE's long trailed but still yet to be released new global platform?
Soon, soon, according to information released as part of its Q3 FY12 financials.
The platform will start to roll out in the 153 targeted countries during May; we'd expect a soft launch in small countries to check it's working.
This will obviously be a big challenge, and in its financials, GREE highlighted that fact that it's been spending a lot of money on expanding its server infrastructure.
These were up 67 percent to ¥2 billion (around $23 million) in Q3.
Embrace the world
Everything is planned to be up-and-running by July, however, as between July and September, GREE expects between 50-60 games to be released, mainly from its third party publishers.
Another interesting challenge is that the GREE platform (if not the games on it) will be supporting 14 languages by September, with the company's goal for the end of 2012 to have released several hundred games.
Its longterm vision remains to create a service used by 1 billion people, something Zynga's also hoping to do.
