Of all the improvements promised by the iPhone's 3.0 software update, it seems developers are most interested in building what is becoming known as an 'Xbox Live' for the iPhone.
The latest developer to enter the built-in social networking trend is Gameloft, which appears to be extending its cross-platform chat and social networking service (that's also used to hand out free mobile game demos), Gameloft Live, onto the iPhone.
Over the weekend, Uno was updated on the App Store to include push notifications and access to the Gameloft Live service. Through Gameloft Live, players will be able to track their achievements, add friends and use the system from within the application.
It seems unlikely that Gameloft will be looking to bring its social networking service to other developers, as most other systems such as OpenFeint and Chillingo's Crystal are aiming to do, but this does mean that the French mobile gaming powerhouse clearly won't be adopting a third party network for its titles.
