Green Throttle Games the company behind the Atlas wireless controller for Android has unveiled new software plug-ins for Unity, Marmalade and the Corona SDK in late February.
These plug-ins are designed to make it easier for developers to adapt their games for the Atlas controller which is designed to bring mobile gaming to the TV by allowing gamers to use their existing Android devices as consoles.
It's a proposition that's fundamentally similar to that of Android unconsoles such as the Ouya and the Gamestick.
In fact, Green Throttle Games plans to make the Atlas controller fully compatible with the GameStick once both devices come to market.
Standing out
In the increasingly crowded unconsole space, though, ease of porting and implementation is going to be vital.
So, by tapping into three of the most popular frameworks around, Green Throttle Games has boosted its chances of attracting developers and, in turn, consumers. Gamers are likely to go where the games are, after all.
"Marmalade is all about taking games to new platforms and screens, and so Green Throttle is a natural partner for us," explained Marmalade CTO Tim Closs.
Corona Labs was just as pleased with the partnership, as CEO Walter Luh explained.
"We're thrilled to partner with Green Throttle and offer Corona SDK developers the ability to build innovative new games. The industry continues to evolve very rapidly and Green Throttle is at the forefront of bringing console-like experiences to mobile."
