T-Mobile has announced a US release date and price for its second Android handset, the HTC Magic, which the carrier has now rebranded as the myTouch 3G.
Perhaps it's just because I spend all day at a keyboard, and can't talk without typing any more, but it makes me groan to see yet another company taking liberties with capitalisation in an effort to create a unique name.
Anyway, despite T-Mobile's poor use of the English language (and vague attempt to position the phone next to Apple's devices, dare I suggest) this is a handset that's going down very well, and the stylishly coloured rebrand will pack in a few extra surprises, too.
Most prominent will be the new Sherpa system, which monitors you use of the phone (regular searches, websites you frequent, places you visit, and so forth) and automatically customises the operating system for you.
It's a little smaller than the G1, given the removal of the slideout QWERTY, and boasts double the memory (512MB). The US release is slated for August, at $199 when accompanied by a two year contract.
It's worth noting, however, that's the MyTouch 3G won't be appearing in the UK any time soon, since Vodafone has the exclusive contract for the HTC Magic over here.
