Google and China are busy whipping up a new Cold War, and a number of Android powered handsets have already been shelved before they get to the world's largest mobile market.
But Motorola evidently understands the importance of getting smartphone games and apps out to the Chinese consumer, and has launched its own app store (Shop4Apps) to cater to its own Android-powered handsets already released in the massive territory.
Developers are being encouraged to get on board with Apps4All while the going is good and the competition small.
"The Motorola Shop4Apps app store will be one of the premier application channels available for Android-based smartphones in China," the Motorola blog proclaims.
"Add to that the immense size of the market opportunity in China, (China is probably the single largest untapped smartphone market in the world), and youve got a recipe for success - Your success!"
Although the blog post leans heavily on the side of salesmanship, it's hard to deny the logic behind it. Making money on the Android Marketplace is immensely difficult in the west, where the iPhone is so well entrenched and the Google online store is poorly supported, but feeding the tech-hungry smartphone users in China is a recipe for prosperity.
