Nokia has revealed one of its flagship Symbian devices won't make its intended launch in 2010.
The highend E7, which combines a touchscreen with a slide-out keypad, like Nokia's classic Communicator, was meant to roll out in a limited number of territories in December.
However, in an email sent out to Bloomberg, Nokia spokesperson Carol Soriano confirmed its debut has now slipped into 2011.
Slipping strategy
"We just wanted to make sure it's the best product possible in both hardware and software," Soriano said.
"We've shipped a lot of Symbian devices in the past few months and we just want to make sure the next one we come out with is the best it can be."
The December date itself was only confirmed by Nokia via a tweet back at the start of November.
Its launch was expected to act as another marker in Symbian^3's intended ascent, with Nokia banking on its latest line up of smartphones to regain ground lost to iPhone, Android and BlackBerry.
The first Symbian^3 equipped device the N8 made its debut in Europe at the end of September, though early reports suggest initial sales have been less than stellar.
Snip, snip
In other news, Nokia confirmed it was cutting 800 jobs in Finland as its continues to reorganise its operations under new CEO Stephen Elop.
It recently also cut 1,800 jobs to streamline its smartphone design and deployment division, and Ovi Store management.
