Scottish developer Tag Games has been using Autodesk's 3ds Max modeling suite when developing the 3D environments to be seen in its upcoming theme park management freemium title Funpark Friends.
The company says it's enabled it to fulfill its goal of producing outstanding visual effects whilst staying within budget.
"Our primary concern is standing out in our field, while maintaining tight budgets and a small, but highly efficient team. The answer was to move towards 3D gaming," said head of game art at Tag Games Stewart Graham.
"3ds Max was the obvious tool. It's a reliable application that offers everything we need in a single package."
All the fun of the rendered fair
Autodesk veep Marc Stevens is also grateful for the example that Funpark Friends is proving in terms of 3D visual quality.
"We are seeing a growing trend of mobile, social and casual game developers adopting 3D workflows," he added.
"Games like Funpark Friends are a great example of the high quality you can achieve with 3D software. It's these more impactful, 3D visuals that grab the consumer's eye and help games stand out in the crowded mobile game market."
Dundee-based Tag games recently announced its intention to expand its studio, while Funpark Friends is due to land on iPhone on October 1.
