Given almost all of the headlines surrounding BlackBerry have focused on the negative of late collapsing market share in the US of particular concern you might expect the development community to move away from the platform.
Hence, the news that 3D mobile games specialist Polarbit is to launch some of its biggest franchises on PlayBook runs against that tide, with some of the developer's biggest series rolling out immediately on BlackBerry App World.
Reckless move
Having added support for the PlayBook and its BBX OS within its Fuse engine, titles confirmed for RIM's device include Raging Thunder 2, Tank Riders, Reckless Racing and Reckless Getaway, as well what Polarbit describes as a "range of titles from many different genres such as FPS, strategy and puzzles".
Polarbit claims prices start from $1.99, with the "rich connectivity features" the games sported on rival platforms remaining intact for their PlayBook debut.
The publisher's decision comes as the most recent figures released by RIM suggest the firm sold around 150,000 PlayBook units during Q3 2011, down from a quarter of a million in the previous quarter.
As a result, total global PlayBook sales to-date sit at the 900,000 mark.
