Autodesk has announced a new version of its Scaleform user interface middleware tailored for mobile games development.
Scaleform for mobile can be used as a plug-in for Unity, a standalone 2D development platform, or it can be integrated into third party and proprietary mobile game engines.
An evaluation version of Scaleform is currently available on the Autodesk Gameware website, and the product is expected to launch in the Autodesk eStore this summer, when it will be priced at $295 per platform, per seat.
Good form
"These new versions of Scaleform were created to address growing interest from outside of the triple-A games market," explained Marc Petit, Autodesk SVP, Media & Entertainment.
"Inspired by innovative use cases of the technology, we first expanded the middleware's mobile game toolsets and tutorials, and are now making Scaleform accessible to more developers."
Scaleform for mobile development is compatible with Android, Windows Phone, and iOS and it includes Game Center integration out of the box.
