Atari has released its first two iPhone games. They're both retro titles - Missile Command and Super Breakout - and are available on the App Store now at £2.99 apiece.
Gameplay additions include the use of touch and tilt, obviously, while Super Breakout lets players create their own backgrounds using photos taken with their iPhone.
iPhone clearly fits with Atari's current strategy of moving gradually away from boxed console games, and towards more digital distribution. President Phil Harrison describes the iPhone and iPod touch as "changing the way we consume and interact with media".
The news also brings a fresh context to reports last week that Atari was contacting independent iPhone developers and asking them to remove their Breakout clones from the App Store.
By pricing its launch titles low at £2.99, Atari is pursuing a different strategy to the likes of Namco Networks, which has adopted higher price points for its retro iPhone games.
