Reports on ad share or handsets shipments all point to a mammoth lead for Android in the smartphone market, and now figures from Google itself appear to back up such claims.
Detailed at the unveiling of the firm's new Google Music venture, the company stated total Android device activations have now hit 200 million worldwide.
Active activations
That's a huge figure in itself, but even more significant when you consider Android's total sat at 100 million six months ago.
Such a jump means, since May, Google has been activating around 16.67 million Android devices a month.
Indeed, the official daily activation rate currently sits at 550,000 itself a rise on the 400,000 handsets Google was activating a day back in May.
Despite the six month rise, however, that's the same daily rate Google recorded back in July, suggesting Android's hearty growth has, potentially, reached its peak.
