Given the year GetJar has enjoyed on Android the likes of Rovio and Digital Chocolate opting to launch titles on the independent app store, rather than take the official route with Android Market it's no wonder the firm would be looking to expand its presence on Google's OS.
The injection of $25 million in GetJar's latest round of funding, therefore, will certainly go some way to helping the firm achieve said aim.
All eyes on Android
Led by Tiger Global Management (with previous investor Accel Partners also contributing), GetJar founder and CEO Ilja Laurs claims both BlackBerry and iOS are also on the radar, though Android with its open set up is to continue to be the marketplace's focus.
"It's extraordinary that with hard work and an amazing team, GetJar has become the worlds largest open app store with over 1.5 billion downloads," said Laurs.
"I was excited to receive such incredible interest for this Series C round of funding and thrilled to add Tiger Global Management to our current investor base.
"I look forward to rapidly scaling the company to take advantage of the enormous global app market opportunity."
