Those of you who thought there might never be an end to the patent infringement battles between Apple and Samsung in Europe can breath a sigh of relief. Unless you're a German wannabe Galaxy Tab 10.1 owner that is.
Last month's preliminary injunction to ban the sale of Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been upheld in a ruling at a Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court.
The device is to be banned from sale in Germany, though the ban doesn't cover the rest of Europe.
Samsung drawn and quartered
"The court is of the opinion that Apple's minimalistic design isn't the only technical solution to make a tablet computer," judge Brueckner-Hoffmann explained. "Other designs are possible."
Samsung responded to the ban. "We are disappointed with this ruling and believe it severely limits consumer choice in Germany. Samsung will actively and immediately appeal this ruling to protect our intellectual property rights."
The injunction had been overruled in most of Europe, but maintained at Samsung's German subsidiary.
This news comes after Samsungs Galaxy Tab 7.7 was pulled from the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin last week.
It also follows on from the news that Apple is turning its attention to Japan, targeting Samsung's Galaxy S, Galaxy S II and Galaxy Tab 7 in the latest infringement case.
