Any platform that can offer developers the opportunity of targeting multiple marketplaces at once is always likely to prove popular.
It makes sense, therefore, for Japanese social giant GREE and Chinese firm Tencent to standardise their respective platforms.
This means developers that submit their titles to Tencent's Wireless Open Platform for Community will find their games can also immediately be listed on GREE's equivalent base in Japan, and vice versa.
Platform power
The open platform that results, the two parties state, will enable developers to tap greater userbases and a wider array of development services for far less effort.
Evidence of such advantages, Koei and Taito have already signed up as the partners to make use of the platform, with the latter launching Spy Wars across both services this autumn.
Koei will debut its first Tencent-GREE release, currently dubbed Hyakuman No Mikunishi, at the same time.
The news comes as GREE has lifted the lid on a deal with SK Telecom to expands its gaming services to the South Korean market.
