Devs should implement iOS 5's AirPlay Mirroring now to be ready for 'Apple's big TV play', reckons Revolution's Tony Warriner

Understated it may be, but there are many who believe iOS 5's AirPlay Mirroring represents the future plan of attack for any Apple home console.

Apple is famously astute when it comes to releasing details about forthcoming product launches, but that shouldn't stop developers from readying themselves for the firm's play for the living room according to Revolution Software co-founder Tony Warriner.

"It's worth doing now, because as we all know, a big TV play from Apple is just around the corner," Warriner told us in an interview.

"I think as more developers realise it's actually quite easy to support, then in turn we’ll see more game using it."

At a rate of almost 14 hacked IAPs to every legitimate one, Britsol-based Mobile Pie revealed the impact piracy can have on even free releases such as My Star.

"We had a much higher than expected month in analytics for September which I initially put down as a big whale," creative director Will Luton said via email.

"When I ran the October report from analytics and it showed that we had over a 10 times multiple for revenue month on month, I was ready to stage an intervention.

"Digging deeper in to our server records, however, we realised that the IAPs were actually spoofed on a jailbroken phone using iAP Cracker."

Facebook's European head of gaming partnerships, Julien Codorniou, opened this year's Social Gaming Summit in London with a simple message for developers looking to the future of the games industry: "mobile, mobile, mobile".

While referring to the once-styled project Spartan, the Facebook mobile web platform, Codorniou was adamant that there was still room to breath and to succeed for games developers on Facebook, despite the presence of Zynga.

"We believe the mobile web platform is the future for the gaming industry," he said.

"Bet on mobile, HTML5. This is really the future of gaming for us."

Ustwo's Whale Trail hits 100,000 paid downloads on iOS in 25 days

According to ustwo CHIEF WONKIA mills, Whale Trail was always intended to place the studio among the "iOS gaming greats" on the App Store.

Hitting 100,000 downloads in total, it appears that the endless runner may be well on the way to achieving that feat – though the game will need to triple that number in the long term if it is to break even.

"Every gaming site covered the launch and more importantly the players seem to really love the mix of simple gameplay mechanics and psychedelic madness," said mills.

"It's pure ustwo in a micro package."
