Retina-equipped iPad proving problematic for devs, claims 10tonsAs you'd expect, the new iPad generated plenty of news. But while some studios are very pleased to gain the more powerful hardware, other smaller studios expressed initial concerns.

One such is Finnish outfit 10tons. Its CEO Tero Alatalo pointed out, "The 2048×1536 resolution is huge. Insanely huge. 4x more pixels".

It's something that apparently has the Mac-based iOS simulator struggling, although overall Alatalo concluded that "All those problems are mostly minor nuisances that will go away with time".

Apple's iPad launch branded underwhelming as queues fall at flagship UK storeHard to judge how widespread a global reaction, but early reaction to the new iPad launch in the UK suggested that while it was strong, it wasn't as strong as previous launches.

Estimates suggest the queue at Apple's flagship London store was 397 people long, compared to 632 people at iPad 2 and 451 people for the original launch.

European Android devs complain of missing Google Play payoutsDevelopers have plenty of complaints about Android, but getting paid for sales hasn't previously been one of them.

That's the situation at the moment, with many companies going onto official forum to say that they haven't received their February payments yet. The problem also seemed to have affecting AdMob and AdSense, suggesting a Google-wide issue.

It may seem a while time ago now, but for those still dealing with the remnants of jet lag and/or conference flu, Game Developer Conference 2012 lingers strong in the memory.

So bulking up from our usual '10 points to consider' article, the strength of mobile gaming during the event this year resulted in a massive 21 trends article - which seemed to have found a willing audience, being our most popular article of the week.
