Chinese App Store rankings see major shifts following algorithm tweaks

According to those watchers of the exploding Chinese App Store, Apple has been tweaking its ranking system to deal with the large amount of scams and frauds that the market is generating.

The result has seen the apps from companies such as Renren, Buding Movie Tickets, Yi Xia and Dangdang downgraded.

Particularly impacted has been Chinese studio KoramGame, whose title Feng Wan Three Kingdoms dropped from fourth place to 335th.

Not so Andrej Nabergoj. He left Outfit7 eight months ago to do what he hopes will be an even more successful company. Called Iddiction, it's an app distribution channel that will leverage its volume off the back of daily app promotions.

Its first stab at the market - an iPhone channel called App-o-Day is available now.

Apple clarifies its UDID position: no rejections yet for use, only for lack of user opt-inLeft is right. Black is white. Apple has finally banned the use of UDIDs.

Only, apparently it hasn't. Though, it might have banned the use of UDIDs if you don't actively get your users to opt into letting you use their UDIDs. But who cares?

Everyone. On the back of that original rumour, all mobile ad and monetisation companies have removed UDIDs from their SDKs, although their replacement use of MAC addresses, OpenUDIDs, ODIN1 etc might not prove to be much better.

Boasting 35 million players a month, Gameloft announces all its future games will include in-app purchases

A strange story to be the most popular, given it was written over a week ago, the news that French publisher Gameloft is all-in on in-app purchases has finally generated headlines.

Amazingly, this will also include Java games, as well as smartphone games based around licences such as Men in Black 3, The Dark Knight Rises, Ice Age, The Avengers and The Amazing Spider-Man, and My Little Pony and Littlest Pet Shop.
