GREE acquires US hardcore social publisher Funzio for $210 millionThe M&A bubble continues with Japanese social gaming network GREE, once again, splashing the cash. It's dropped $210 million in cash to buy US mid-core social publisher Funzio.

Starting out on Facebook, it switched to mobile a year ago, although it's not been prolific with only three games - Crime City, Modern War and Kingdom Age - out on iOS, and just one - Crime City - on Android.

Still, as a result of the deal, GREE now has over 330 developers in downtown San Francisco.

6 out of 10 mobile developers don't generate enough revenue to break evenThere's plenty of enthusiasm when it comes to mobile game and app development. But according to the results of a survey from App Promo, much less experience when it comes to running a successful business.

Its results suggest that 80 percent of studios don't earn enough revenue to support their business, with almost 60 percent failing to break even.

Dropping Draw Something DAUs making Zynga investors nervy

Given Zynga's share price remains under the water from its $10 float price, investors are starting to become concerned about how the social gaming giant is operating its business.

Spending up to $210 million buying OMGPOP in March seemed like an opportunitistic move, but given that its main game Draw Something is losing players on Facebook, some are revisiting that decision.

Of course, the game still has a very healthy 10 million daily active users on Facebook and is in the top 5 in the US top grossing iPhone chart so it's certainly too early to write off the deal as a bad one. But, no doubt, it's a topic Zynga analysts will continue to chew over in the coming months.

Nokia Lumia triggers 300% jump in Windows Phone app submissions

Neither Nokia or Microsoft have yet made a success out of Windows Phone, but at least getting the Finnish OEM onboard has had an impact.

According to Nokia's SVP of developer experience and marketplace Marco Argenti, app submissions to Windows Phone Marketplace have risen 300 percent since Nokia got involved.

In absolute terms, that's still a mere 80,000 apps; even less than the 99,500 apps on BlackBerry App World, not to mention the hundreds of thousands on Google Play and Apple's App World.

But hey, it's a start, right?
