Making its reputation as a publisher of core iOS games - mainly developed using the Unity engine - US outfit Crescent Moon has had a busy year.
It's released title such as Gears, Evertales, Siegecraft, PocketRPG and Deadlock, with the anticipated Topia due in 2012.
We caught up with creative director Josh Presseisen to get his take on the past 12 months.
PocketGamer: What do you think was the most significant event for the mobile games industry in 2011?
Josh Presseisen: The most significant event in 2011 was probably the release of the iPad 2, which raised the bar for the graphics quality of games.
What was the most significant event for Crescent Moon?
The most significant event for our company was getting a real office with employees.
What was your favourite mobile game of the year?
Favorite game from Crescent Moon would have to be Gears, because it was a genre we've never tried before, and it was a runaway hit.
From other developers, probably the best game I've played this year was Tiny Wings.
What do you predict will be the most important trends in 2012?
Personally, I am not a fan of freemium or of in-app purchases, but it's an unfortunate reality that developers must deal with.
What's your New Year's resolution and what resolution would you enforce on the industry?
Be sure that whatever you release is the best you think it can be, and if not, keep working on it to take it that one step further. Don't release something until it's ready, well tested and well reviewed!
Thanks to Josh for his time.
