Mobile marketers are in short supply and high demand, says Gameloft's manager for UK & Ireland
Gameloft is currently looking for a marketing and PR manager for the UK and Ireland – and it's taken to the PocketGamer.biz jobs board in its search for talent.

Based at Gameloft's London offices, the successful candidate will develop local marketing plans, manage and allocate marketing budgets, and maintain relationships with relevant media.

To find out more about the position – and a host of other industry vacancies currently available – head on over to the PocketGamer.biz jobs board.

To find out more about Gameloft, read on. We spoke to the company's country manager for the UK and Ireland about talent shortages, business models, and what Gameloft can offer employees.

Pocket Gamer: How many staff are you up to now, and what projects and platforms are you working on?

David Whitby: Gameloft currently employs more than 5,000 people worldwide, with studios in Paris, Madrid, London, New York, Auckland, Berlin and Montreal, to name just a few.

We're currently developing a range of titles primarily for smartphone and tablet platforms, including the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises, Cosmic Colony and Kingdoms & Lords.

We're also working on several Unreal Engine titles, and we'll have more information to share about those soon.

Where are you recruiting and why?

We have open positions in many cities around the world, including this one in our London-based business office.

As smartphone and tablet hardware grows more sophisticated, so too do our games - as anybody who has played N.O.V.A. 3 or Asphalt 7: Heat can attest.

It takes a lot of talented people to produce that level of quality and then get it into the hands of gamers.

What do you see as the emerging areas of talent shortage in mobile games at the moment?

Surprisingly enough, I think marketing is a real shortage area right now.

The distribution of games in app stores requires a completely new approach for marketers – especially for freemium titles – and I think the industry is still catching up.

Gameloft is committed to maintaining our strong position in the UK and Ireland, so we're looking forward to seeing some great candidates for this particular role.

What makes Gameloft an attractive company to work for? What can you offer your successful applicants?

As one of the premier developers and publishers of mobile games, Gameloft has a lot of experience – we've been doing this for more than ten years now!

Those wanting to work in gaming can benefit from that vast wealth of knowledge while working on some of the most popular and innovative games around, across a wide range of genres – everything from Ice Age Village to Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation to UNO.

There's no more satisfying a feeling than knowing millions of people around the world are enjoying the fruits of your labour.

Where will you be focussing your efforts in terms of platforms and business models over the next 12-18 months, and why?

We're planning to continue with our current strategy, with a mix of core and casual titles, both premium and freemium.

The one defining characteristic of the games industry is that it is in a state of constant flux – one year ago, I'm not sure we would have predicted that we'd be where we are today.

Who knows where we'll be in 18 months' time!
Thanks to David for his time.
