Invitation to unveiling sent from French Sony Ericsson CEO

PlayStation Phone set to be revealed on December 9?
Seven days after all but confirming that the unicorn PlayStation or PSP phone is no longer a myth, an invitation to attend a PlayStation event on December 9th has been posted by French blog Nowhere Else.

According to the photographed invitation, Pierre Perron, the CEO of Sony Ericsson France, and his team will make the ‘most important announcement’ in recent history at 8pm on that date.

Triangle, Square, X, Circle + Phone

The four traditional PlayStation logos can clearly be seen on the invitation, plus a yellow phone icon, lending credence to Sony Ericsson’s CEO Bert Nordberg’s earlier posit that 'the future might be brighter' for an Ericsson / PlayStation mash-up.

The oft-rumoured PSPhone will reportedly run Google’s Android operating system, and could well be launched at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next February.

Of course, with December 9th only ten days away, we won't have to wait too long for official confirmation from Sony Ericsson itself.

Tipping point

In the meantime, Mobile Crunch has been in touch (presumably on his PlayStation Phone prototype) with a much-trusted source, who confirmed that the offer to rendezvous with Perron & co. is real.

More intriguingly, the tipster also elaborated on the purported PSPhone’s details themselves, suggesting that its screen will match iPhone 4’s stunning Retina display, that its titles will be sold at mobile game price points, and that the handset will retail for $500 off-contract.

I presume PG.Biz’s invitation is still in the post...
