As scores of newsreaders forced to don suspenders and stockings every Children in Need will attest, sometimes people need to be coaxed into doing something good.
That's exactly the idea behind One Economy's decision to partner up with PapayaMobile. In a bid to foster the development of titles designed to 'promote social good', the two companies have come together to offer studios one or two incentives.
Positive pay-off
Most notably, developers signed up to the scheme will gain access to PapayaMobile's suite of social gaming tools and monetisation solutions.
The firm will also create a dedicated 'games for good' category on its platform, pushing their titles to a dedicated audience.
"At Papaya, we constantly see the benefits of game mechanics and monetisation in the mobile virtual world," said PapayaMobile CEO Si Shen.
"Papaya is committed to bringing the benefits of the virtual world to the real world for people who need our assistance."
Socially speakingOne Economy is currently in the process of talking with developers looking to create A4G apps, with the idea being that tapping into PapayaMobile's network will ensure its message spreads to developers far and wide.
"We believe that when developers realize they can make a difference, they are very likely to produce games that go beyond entertainment," said A4G community manager Arthur Grau.
"Applications for Good is providing a venue for game companies to leverage and showcase products that have social impact. We look forward to new apps that are fun while promoting better health, learning and prosperity."
More information on the partnership can be found on PapayaMobile's website, or on applicationsforgood.com.
