In a studio profile video conducted by Unity itself, Creative Assembly's Renaud Charpentier said the studio could not afford the time to create a full engine in the early stages of developing its iOS title Total War Battles: Shogun.
Some assembly required
The developer, known for its Total War series on PC, highlighted Unity's apparent ease of use, the overall engine support on offer, compatibility with existing PC assets, as well as its ability to support the most mobile platforms.
"The mobile space is moving very fast and for us sticking to Unity is a way of not having to cope with that which is a very good thing for a small team like us," said Renaud.
"No one knows what iPad 5 and 6 or iPhone 5 will be or if another big player will come to the market but what we know is that our engine and our game are going to be able to cope with that which for us is a very important thing."
Creative Assembly's Total War Battles: Shogun, which is powered by Unity, is available now for iOS and is bound forAndroid devices soon.
