Days after its founder Klaas Kersting scored a major marketing deal for his new company flaregames, German browser-based publisher Gameforge has scored its first successes on mobile.
The company has released its first three RPGs for mobile on iOS, Android and Windows Phone, with Mafia Game, Vampire Game and War Game having already amassed a total of 2 million downloads and installs.
The company claims its mobile efforts will ramp up further in the second half of 2012, with Gameforge's dedicated mobile team "preparing for the next generation of technology."
Forging ahead
Tablet titles are also in line for Gameforge, with versions of online games Ikariam, OGame, and Gladiatus currently in development, alongside a new Unity 3D production.
"Given the increasing extent users enjoy games on their mobile devices, it is a strategic decision for games publishers to be present in that field," said CEO Alexander Rösner of the move.
"Our first mobile games for smartphones were a field experiment for us, to see how the game mechanics of our successful web games can be transferred particularly to smartphones.
"They proved to be a successful start in this rapidly growing market segment."
Gameforge will launch a total of 10 mobile games throughout the course of 2012, with the firm's forthcoming smartphone library which will all be multiplayer games expected to contribute "several million Euros" to the firm's turnover in 2013.
