Flurry launches AppCircle discovery and recommendation service

Out now for iOS, and for Android in August

Flurry launches AppCircle discovery and recommendation service
It may be still in the doghouse with Steve Jobs, but mobile analytics firm Flurry is continuing to roll out new technology. According to MobileBeat, it's just officially launched its AppCircle network for cross-selling mobile apps.

Simply put, it's a discovery and recommendation tool that analyses what Flurry apps you have on your phone and how you use them, and then tries to work out what similar apps that support Flurry you might also like.

The company says use of AppCircle means its entire SDK passes Apple's new iOS terms and conditions in terms of the collection of such analytics because it's an advertising service

If not, we expect to hear snorting from Cupertino soon.

Buy users, sell apps

Developers and publishers can use the service to promote their apps, using the standard bid approach, where they set how much they want to spend to gain new users. The system then works out which apps to recommend to maximise its revenues.

Companies who sign up their apps to run AppCircle ads get a 60 percent cut of the money generated from each download.

In addition, developers who join as both promoters and publishers receive a 25 percent credit for every dollar they earn as a publisher that is reinvested into promoting their applications.

The service has been running in a beta form since November 2009, with more than 450 companies having successfully made money on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch apps. Android support is planned during the first week of August.
