Taiwanese phone manufacturer HTC (TPE:2498) has announced its financials for its record breaking Q2 2011, ending June 31.
Total revenue was 124.4 billion TWD ($4.3 billion), up 174 percent year-on-year.
Net income after tax was 17.52 billion TWD ($606.8 million) a 102.9 percent increase over the same quarter last year.
Said figure is also up 24 percent from Q1 2011.
Smartphones up
It's smartphone shipments of 12.2 million units up 123 percent year on year where HTC really impressed, however.
That's up 1.2 million units from the figure HTC published earlier in July.
Using Strategy Analytics figures, that means HTC shipped just 4.5 million units less than former smartphone market leader Nokia throughout the quarter.
"Consumer reactions to our award-winning designs have driven us to another record-breaking quarter," said CEO Peter Chou.
"Our teams work so hard to create each individual experience on the device, and it is gratifying for all of us to see them embraced at the volume levels we are consistently reporting across the globe."
