Taking place on 23 September, Microsoft hasn't officially revealed that the rumoured Surface 2 or Surface Pro 2 will be in attendance, but it's expected everything from integrated kickstands to full 1080p displays will be on show at the event.
One item that won't be on offer is the rumoured Surface Mini, which - according to sources cited by The Verge - will not be unveiled alongside the new models.
Surface tension
Despite the devices' obvious potential, Surface has struggled to challenge iPad at the top tablet table, with the RT edition resulting in a $900 million write-down for Microsoft.
The company has also frankly admitted that it needs "to do better" with the slates.
It's believed many consumers were confused by the differences between the Surface RT and Surface Pro - a factor that may explain Microsoft's apparent decision to drop 'RT' from the basic model's name, despite still running the Windows RT operating system.
It's expected both devices will launch alongside the roll out of the Windows 8.1 update - the main features of which can be viewed below.
