Glu is keen to ride the commercial Android Market one game at a time
As soon as we’d received Gameloft’s email about its ‘new wave of mega-games’ (you can’t make this sort of stuff up, even on a Friday evening), so Glu’s equivalent pinged in.

“Glu is excited to be a part of the phased rollout of priced applications to T-Mobile G1 users in the US,” it started.

Interestingly though, Glu has chosen to focus on individual titles.

“We were one of the first publishers to build and launch a game in the initial Android free marketplace, and currently have two games available on Android today: Bonsai Blast and Brain Genius Deluxe”, it continues. “We are currently rolling out our first offering for priced applications, Build-a-lot

“We are proud to continue to support the Open Handset Alliance’s efforts with Android and believe Android Market provides a fertile environment for the business of mobile games,” said Jill Braff, senior vice president, global publishing, Glu Mobile.

“Build-a-lot is an addictive game that will resonate with anybody who’s ever wanted to try their hand at the housing market.”

 

Build-a-lot is a town management game that we enjoyed on mobile, although noting it perhaps lacked some excitement.

Maybe the new sub-prime options that must have been introduced to mirror the current economic climate will liven things up whenever the paid Android Market actually make its way from a ‘phased rollout of priced applications’ to err.... being live so people can buy things (by rolling around in a phased manner, of course).
