Google tweaks features for Android Market point release

Screenshots, promotional icons, and Italian seller support added

Google tweaks features for Android Market point release
Google has announced some of the new features it will be including in the forthcoming Android Market 1.6 release.

These include the ability to show screenshots, promotional icons, and descriptions that better show off and explain applications and games.

Sports, health, themes, and comics sub-categories will also be added to the Market. You can choose these sub-categories for both new and existing applications via the publisher website.

Finally, Google has added seller support for developers in Italy.

You can check out a video about the features on the Android developers website.

Nice features if you're an Italian developer making comics and themes for sure, but hardly likely to fundamentally change the discovery experience for the platform which recently came under fire from game developer Larva Labs.

It revealed two of its games had averaged sales of just $62.39 per day over the last month; something it blamed on the unintuitive, cumbersome nature of browsing and purchasing software on the Android Marketplace.
