Art gaming outfit Monstrous raises $400k in seed funding
As the iPhone and iPod touch install base grows, so previously niche markets become commercially viable.

There's not yet been a lot of art on the App Store but there are games and entertainment products pushing at the edges; most recently the EA Mobile-published Auditorium from cipher prime.

Texas-based startup Monstrous is operating in the same white space too with its just released rhythm-action title Entranced.

It mixes music and graphics with interactivity to create what the company describes as "unique visual landscapes".

And it certainly seems to have caught some wider attention as the company has received $400,000 in seed funding to further develop its music game platform.

Monstrous' mission statement is "to create compelling interactive entertainment experiences that combine art, interaction, and creativity".

Part of the The Founder Institute incubator, Monstrous is headed up CEO Jason Asbahr, who previously worked for Origin Systems on Ultima Online 2 and Guitar Hero publisher RedOctane amongst other.

You can find out more about the company and Entranced via its website.
