I've already covered various elements of Neil Young's Evolve 2010 talk about ngmoco - 'How we started, what we've learned & what's next...'
Still, there are a couple of points worth dwelling on.
One is a number dump of where ngmoco - which has 140 employees - currently is as a mobile social network.
It's done 60 million downloads of its published games.
There have been 81 million installs of games using its Plus+ platform.
There are 13.5 million active Plus+ users, who have 55 million friend connections.
The Plus+ networks hosts around 60 million gameplay minutes per day of ngmoco owned games. (Note: this isn't the total number of minutes across all Plus+ enabled titles).
As a comparison, Rovio says Angry Birds does 65 million minutes of gameplay daily on iOS devices.
Elastic value
When it comes to money, the company did four funding rounds, worth in total $45 million.
In June 2008, it raised $5 million in initial funding, giving the company a nominal VC valuation of $13.6 million.
In March 2009, it raised a further $10 million, gaining it a valuation of $40 million.
In December 2009, a $25 million round saw the company's valuation up to $90 million.
Its final round of $5 million was in June 2010, which wasn't required operationally but was undertaken to tighten its relationship with Google and hence focus it for the nascent Android market. This provided a nominal valuation of $170 million.
In October, DeNA paid $303 million in cash, shares and warrants for ngmoco, with a further $100 million due dependent on future performance.
