Konami launching 3D baseball game on Sharp's Android phone

Testing the 3D waters?

Konami launching 3D baseball game on Sharp's Android phone
After revealing that its 3D smartphones will no longer be limited to just the Japanese market, Sharp has received another welcome boost for the platform via gaming giant Konami.

Sharp’s Android-powered 3D Galapagos devices were originally thought to be exclusive to Japan, but the company revealed last month that its autostereoscopic (aka glasses-free) 3D screen technology would show up in later models around the world, too.

Japan's favourite pastime

Whilst we in the UK await confirmation of a Sharp 3D handset to our shores, Konami has announced its entry into the 3D handheld sphere with Mobile Powerful Pro Baseball 3D.

So, despite the launch of Nintendo’s dedicated console the 3DS being only a couple of months off, Konami has decided to hit one out of the 3D park even sooner by pre-installing the baseball title on the Android smartphone.

3D under for the round

Japanese customers interested in Sharp’s 3D handset will also find a golfing app, Golfriends, sitting on their home screens, taking advantage of the extra dimension to render the holes.

According to reports, the company’s upcoming 3D mobile phones will ship with a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, Android 2.2, and a 3.8-inch 800x480 display.
