HP Palm leak unveils webOS tablets Topaz and Opal

9-inch and 7-inch devices expected late 2011

HP Palm leak unveils webOS tablets Topaz and Opal
It's inevitable that, following on from Apple's stellar sales news, every tablet announced in 2011 will be compared to iPad.

Leaked details surrounding two webOS tablets from HP, however, seem to warrant such a comparison more than most, with image renders posted by Engadget affording the devices the kind of visual prowess arguably missing from most Android tablets.

Late launch

It's the proposed specs, of course, that concern most people, and with HP expected to officially unveil the 9-inch Topaz and 7-inch Opal in February, an unnamed source has told the site that both tablets will come with a front facing camera, a USB port and three speakers to enable stereo sound when used in both landscape and portrait mode.

It's also believed that the button-less Topaz and Opal will ship with unspecified 1.2GHz processors – though it's the date of those initial shipments that might surprise most.

Engadget claims units will begin to arrive at Palm's HQ this June, though the launch of both devices – Topaz expected before Opal – could still be a few months further on, with an internal marketing slide listing a wi-fi only 3G/LTE Opal for launch in September.
