Zynga acquires Dallas-based MarketZero team

Looking to enhance the Zynga Poker experience

Zynga acquires Dallas-based MarketZero team
If you thought casual gaming giant Zynga had completed its shopping spree last month after buying Boston-based mobile and PC studio Floodgate Entertainment, you're sorely mistaken.

Racking up its 11th purchase in as many months, Zynga has acquired MarketZero - the firm responsible for online poker tracking site PokerTableRatings.

Rather than merely taking over the business, which serves up a database for online poker players, Zynga is more interested in the talent behind the site, including MarketZero founders Gustavo Abdala, Amir Elaguizy, Nir Leibovich, Timothy Sullivan and Jason Wang.

"The team's experience and deep knowledge of the online poker industry will be invaluable as we work together to build out cutting-edge features and further enhance Zynga Poker."

Zynga's Texas hold 'em poker game launched on Facebook in 2008, enabling the company to establish a foothold on the social networking platform.

According to data from AllFacebook, Zynga Poker attracts 37 million active monthly users, though that figure is dropping almost daily.

This would, therefore, present an opportune moment to invest in a group or association that could conceivably turn things around. Hello, MarketZero!

In addition, the FarmVille and CityVille publisher has recently purchased We Farm creator Bonfire Studios (renamed Zynga Dallas), Drop7 maker Area/Code (now Zynga New York), and Words with Friends's developer Newtoy (now Zynga with Friends).
