Without warning or introduction, Apple has altered its pricing structure for the App Store in the UK, increasing charges by up to 25 percent across the majority of price points.
The price hike sees the former lowest price point of 59p dropped in favour of the higher figure of 69p a rise of 17 percent while the biggest jumps come at £1.19 and £3.99, which have both been upped by 25 percent to £1.49 and £4.99 respectively.
The price is wrong
The £2.99 is the only price point left unaltered, meaning across the board, the average price of apps on the marketplace has risen by 12 percent.
In-app purchases are also said to have been affected.
In contrast, The Next Web reports price points in Australia have actually fallen, with $1.19 games falling to the 99c price point.
Also, apps in Japan now start at Y85 versus Y115 previously, and the Swiss App Store, which uses the Swiss Franc, has also seen prices fall.
