Gameloft (EPA:GFT) has announced its Q3 2012 financials for the three months ending 30 September.
Sales were a record 55.4 million (around $71 million), up 37 percent year-on-year, or 33 percent if you strip out exchange rate variations.
To-date, over the nine month period, Gameloft's total 2012 sales are 150.6 million (around $195 million), up 28 percent compared to 2011.
Because of French accounting rules, Gameloft won't break out its Q3 profit figures until later in 2012.
Right directions
Of course, this growth is being driven by smartphone device adoption and Gameloft's switch to the free-to-play and in-app purchase business models.
It claims it has 56 million active users (down from 57 million in Q2), and generates 60 percent of its revenues from in-app purchases and mobile advertising.
During 2011, this proportion was 41 percent.
Gameloft's business is well distributed globally, with North America represented 32 percent of Q3 sales; EMEA 26 percent; APAC 22 percent; and Latin America 19 percent.
Therefore the company now targets around 205 million (around $265 million) in sales for the full year 2012, up more than 25% year-on-year.
