The Dundee-based YoYo Games announced that its cross-platform GameMaker: Studio will soon support Intel and Samsung's new mobile OS Tizen.
By adding support for the Linux-based open source Tizen, developers will be able to publish games from GameMaker: Studio directly to the Tizen Store and other Tizen-based platforms.
The move to support Tizen will allow developers to use GameMaker to reach devices outside of the traditional smartphone and tablet market.
"The most exciting thing to us is the range of cross-platform devices that will be embraced including in-car entertainment and smart TV as well as smart phones and tablets." said YoYo Games' Sandy Duncan.
All in a Tizen
With the release of GameMaker Studio for Tizen, developers will also be able to export their new and pre-existing games to run natively or as an HTML5 application.
Those looking to go hands-on with GameMaker: Studio for Tizen can try out the beta at the Tizen Developers Conference in San Francisco later in May.
