Two decades on, Team17 're-enters the publishing arena'

After a hiatus of almost twenty years, Worms outfit Team17 has announced it is to return to third-party publishing, making most of what it claims is a "wealth of personal experience to share."

The company began life as a publisher 23 years ago, but in recent years has focused on launching its own titles across PC, console and mobile platforms.

The expertise Team17 has amassed from such activities will now be pumped into its publishing business, with the firm's first title – Just a Pixel's Light – currently sitting on Steam Greenlight.

Mobile mover?

There's been no word of a major mobile push, then, but the firm is on the look out to sign up new titles.

"Team17 has an incredible community running into many millions that we can cross-promote within and raise awareness for new IPs and specifically indie games, which are very close to our hearts and something we stand up for," detailed the firm.

"Team17 is home to an awesome digital publishing team who have topped every digital chart from PC, console and mobile over the last couple of years.

"Most importantly, Team17 make games as well and know first-hand just what it takes to make a game and take it to market correctly across all platforms."

Light on Steam

We recently spoke to Team17's senior PR executive Bethany Aston about the firm's efforts to broaden the appeal of its brand beyond the Worms franchise – a venture that will no doubt be aided by publishing third-party IP. You can see the interview below.
