UKIE launches first-ever Games Industry Pavilion at youth-focused Big Bang Fair

UK trade association UKIE has today launched its first-ever Games Industry Pavilion at the annual Big Bang Fair in Birmingham.

The body has teamed up with the likes of Nesta, Microsoft, Autodesk, and BAFTA with the aim of helping young people learn more about careers in the games industry.

Pavilion highlights include talks run by members of the Video Games Ambassadors community and Autodesk Student Experts, Neta's latest 'Technology will save us' intiative, and BAFTA's Young Game Designers discussing how its current campaign will inspire young people to develop games.

The children are our future

Also at the Big Bang Fair is the Swindon-based indie studio, Fayju, - best known for its OUYA game The Amazing Frog? - showcasing its much-anticipated game, Cascade, which walks players through a brain's fight against Alzheimer's.

Speaking on the event, CEO of Ukie Dr. Jo Twist expressed excitement at the first-ever pavilion

"Events like this are vital in helping to secure our talent pipeline in the UK and we are delighted to be holding the first ever Games Industry Pavilion at the Fair", Dr. Twist began.

"Given the huge reach of Big Bang Fair, we hope to inspire many more young people into making their own games, and to add art and design into the STEM mix."

Running from 13-16 March in Birmingham, the Big Bang Fair expects to attract 65,000 schoolchildren, teachers, and parents in attendance. The Games Industry Pavillion will be open throughout the entire event.
