Nintendo has confirmed that the recently announced Super Mario Run will be coming to Android.

Speaking to Kotaku, a representative from Nintendo said: "We do intend to release the game on Android devices at some point in the future."

This was hinted at during the announcement at Apple's keynote, when Apple CEO Tim Cook made reference to the game "coming to iOS first", rather than announcing it as an exclusive to the platform.

The game has already generated a large amount of buzz in the mobile community, and players can sign up to be notified of its release on the App Store.
