Google has revealed the 45-strong nominee list for the 2018 Google Play Awards.

The nominees will fall into nine categories this year instead of the 12 from 2017. New additions to the category list include well-being, accessibility and social impact.

Nominees were selected by various teams across Google with criteria including a high star rating, a launch or update since April 2017 and Android vitals, which is one of Google’s latest security initiatives which displays the last time an app was scanned for anything malicious.

The process also focused on overall quality, design, technical performance and innovation.

The winners will be announced a day before the Google I/O 2018 developer conference kicks off on May 8th.
