Given the substantial deal signed between Booyah and Google, it's no surprise the company is now talking up the possibility of MyTown popping up on platforms outside of iPhone Android being the most likely target.
However, said deal which Booyah co-founder and CEO Keith Lee discusses at length with All Things Digital will also fuel overseas growth, with the company expanding on its recent commitment to launch outside of the US.
Crossing the pond
"We're going to be expanding internationally to across 34 different countries very soon, and of course we will be planning to expand to other platforms too," Lee said, before rebuffing claims Booyah might get involved in any future spats between Apple and Google following the deal.
Booyah's decision to get into bed with Google will see MyTown make use of Google Places, with the app able to utilise its geographic data to improve its check-ins, amongst other things.
It's a link-up Lee was naturally keen to talk up.
"We've been ecstatic to be able to work with Google they have the fastest search, great accuracy, tons of different points of interest and the ability to expand in scale as we grow our userbase as well." he said.
Aiming for Android
Launching both on Android and in other major smartphone markets would help MyTown cement its market leading position, with Lee also confirming in the interview that its US iPhone userbase has now hit 2.5 million.
However, Lee is just as excited about the real benefits MyTown now offers its existing players benefits such as its virtual items system.
"The exciting thing is that these virtual items are often containers that can allow you to trailers for the latest movies, to the type of burger offers, scanable coupons," he concluded, "but the core idea is that the items themselves also offer a lot of gameplay value."
