PopCap could easily be considered one of the pioneers of mobile gaming, thanks mostly to its creation of the match-three gameplay style seen in Bejeweled, along with other groundbreaking titles such as Peggle and Plants vs Zombies.
Most of these titles are US developed, but it seems the company is now looking to boost the fortunes of its Irish contingent. A job posting appeared in Develop recently looking for a senior Mobile designer to join PopCap's Dublin studio.
The listing calls for an experienced game designer to work with a small development team tasked with adapting existing titles and creating brand spin-offs, while also moving toward the creation of original IPs on "a variety of handheld, mobile and social platforms".
Should Ireland grants the video game development tax breaks it's been considering, PopCap might not be the only studio turning its attention on the Emerald Isle in these difficult economic times.
