Better discovery with family and friends

Mplayit adds BlackBerry games to its Facebook social app store
The discovery of games and apps on the myriad of application stores is going to be one of the big issues for developers in 2010.

Good news for US company Mplayit, which has added the full catalog of over 3,500 BlackBerry applications and games to its Facebook-based social app store.

Mplayit offers BlackBerry users search and try-before-you-buy playable previews, and users can rate, comment, and recommend individual apps through their social network.

Because Mplayit is hosted on Facebook, users can also browse the recommendations and reviews from their friends and family. In addition, Mplayit's real-time Apptivity feed shows the most played and recommended apps.

"Most BlackBerry users have a hard time finding great apps," said Michael Powers, founder and CEO of Mplayit. "We help them tap into their social network to discover apps they'll love and recommend to their friends."

Mplayit expects to add support for more smartphone platforms in coming months, offering consumers the only one-stop mobile apps store for purchasing content for any mobile device.

"With the iPhone content market becoming ever more crowded and complex, developers are recognising the potential of other smartphone platforms," said Powers. "We're knocking down the cross-platform barriers that hold back apps with great viral potential."

BlackBerry, iPhone, and Java developers interested in featuring their applications are encouraged to contact Mplayit at apps [at] mplayit.com for further details.
